Jacques Cook, IP3's Senior PPP Advisor along with our Kenyan partners, just completed a one week PPP Foundation course in Navaisha, Kenya at the Great Rift Valley Lodge. The course is part of an IP3 contract with the Ministry of Finance and the Kenyan PPP Unit financed by the World Bank. This session was the first of six training modules to be carried out over the next 8 months on PPPs. The Foundation course was attended by 42 Kenyan public sector officials drawn from key government ministries, agencies and universities.
The purpose of this training session was to provide a general overview of core issues in best practices in PPP procurement and project development along with an examination of Kenyan PPP policies and procurement guidelines. Subsequent training modules will delve in greater detail into PPP feasibility analysis, legal agreements, financial modeling and project implementation. The course was considered highly successful by the participants who all express an interest in more PPP training.
